No More Sexual Thoughts

Dear friend,

Congratulations on reaching November with a blessed life throughout this year. I know that each promise you received every month has contributed to making this year truly blessed. God has something special in store for this month as well. God's word for this month is from Galatians 5:16 which says,

"Walk by the spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."

Once, a friend asked me, "Sam, is it okay if I seek pleasure for my body? Is that acceptable?" I pondered and replied, "When you add feelings of pleasure to your body, what are you thinking about?" He admitted, "Yes, you're right. I never considered that. I often entertain lustful thoughts about others, and I know that's wrong."

Indeed, my friend, indulging in thoughts that incite lust, especially towards other people, is a misstep. Jesus explicitly stated that such thoughts are akin to committing adultery or sin. When God intends for us to be committed to one partner, entertaining lustful thoughts about others is detrimental. It's crucial for our well-being that God rescues us from these feelings of lust and their negative consequences this month.

I understand that you are praying, "Lord, I don't want to be consumed by lust, by impure thoughts. Save me." In Galatians 5:16, God assures us of this: "Walk by the spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." Our flesh constantly craves worldly pleasures, which offer fleeting satisfaction but ultimately lead to ruin. God has destined us for a life of godliness, replete with its abundant rewards. Therefore, let us choose to walk in the spirit, allowing God to guide our steps away from lust.

Why should we shun lust? It reduces us to slavery. Not only does it erode our purity, but it also enslaves us to an insatiable desire for sexual pleasure. The craving intensifies, never truly satiating us. It turns us into slaves of our own desires. Furthermore, these feelings of sexual pleasure are shrouded in darkness. By entertaining them, we invite darkness into our lives, and with it come its curses. Though initially enticing, it ultimately destroys our body, our character, and our heart. On the contrary, when we choose God, committing to keep our bodies pure and honoring Him, He empowers us. He grants us strength, filling us with the pleasures of God. As Jesus said, "At my right hand are eternal pleasures." We experience the joy of heaven and the power of God in our lives. So, let us choose this path.

How can we maintain purity and resist every urge of lust? Firstly, consider Joseph's example. Faced with seduction from his master's wife, a person of great allure due to her status, Joseph did not yield. He fled from that place, not entertaining her advances. It was the fear of losing God's favor that guided him. Maintain this reverent fear, realizing that choosing lust would lead to a loss of God's blessings.

Secondly, think of the city of Sodom and Gomorrah, notorious for its rampant sexual sin. Amidst this environment, one family chose righteousness. They immersed themselves in God's word, prayer, and doing His will, steadfastly guarding their purity. They resolutely rejected any temptations that came their way. When destruction befell the city, God protected this family alone. One family was saved.

So, my friend, immerse yourself in the spirit, in daily scripture, and in the will of God. Stay occupied with powerful communion with God. He will enable you to make a profound impact, steadily leading you higher. These sexual temptations will not derail you, distract you, or ruin your life. Keep focused on walking in the spirit, for God has promised to be with you.

Prayer:

Loving Lord, I am a young person struggling with sexual temptation. Look upon me, listen to the prayer of Your child. Resisting these temptations is tough, for they appear enticing and pleasurable. Yet, I know that what You offer is far more satisfying, far more empowering. Grant strength to me, Lord. Instill in me a godly fear, a fear of losing Your favor. Help me stay occupied in walking in the spirit, in prayer, in reading Your word, and in doing Your will. Shield me, Lord. Let me not be swayed by these impure thoughts. Safeguard me under Your divine protection. Banish every evil spirit that seeks to tempt me. Guard me and grant them the reward of walking with You. Lift me up, Lord. Honor me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

My friend, because you've chosen to reject lust, you will experience the mighty blessing of God lifting you up. By honoring God, you are in for a month and a life free from lust. Walk in the spirit. God bless you.
